Repo Trucks For Sale at Houston Government Auctions

It surprises a lot of people that they could find repo trucks for sale at Houston government auctions.  Government auctions are well known for their fleet vehicles and seized vehicles, but not for also having repos.  Fortunately, by knowing how to find trucks that have been repossessed, you can lock in great deals on trucks that are only a year or two old.  This is in stark contrast to the normal government fleet truck, which will normally be between 5 and 10 years old.  Here are a few tips to keep in mind if repossessed trucks are what you want to target.

The first thing that you need to do in order to locate repo trucks for sale at Houston government auctions is to find out what type of government is hosting the auction.  In many cases, the federal government will not likely include vehicles that have been repossessed.  On the other hand, state, county, and local auctions will often allow anyone to add a truck to the auctions, which includes lending institutions like banks and credit unions.  This is because they often have fewer vehicles ready for the sale than the federal government does.

Repo trucks

The tough part for most people who are trying to find repo trucks for sale at Houston government auctions is determine where the trucks actually came from.  There are several key indicators that separate former government trucks from repo trucks.  The first is the age.  In general, government trucks are likely to be much older.  If you see a truck that is only a year or two old, then it is probably a repossessed vehicle.  If the truck is less than a year old, then it is almost a guarantee that it is a repo.  Another thing to look for is the manufacturer of the truck.  Government trucks are almost all domestically made.  While this won’t tell where any of the domestic trucks are from, it a safe bet that if you find a Nissan or Toyota, then it is a repo.

Another way to see if there are any potential repo trucks for sale at Houston government auctions is to look at who is sponsoring the auction.  Obviously, the first thing that you will see is the level of government that is holding the auction, especially if it is being done by the state or county.  The trick is paying close attention to the lending institutions involved.  In many cases, there will likely be several lending institutions who are only involved because they are there to help people finance their purchase.  The easiest thing to do is get the list of lending institutions that are sponsoring the auction and call them.  Most of the time, they will not only be able to tell you whether or not they have trucks there, but will normally give you a list of the exact vehicles.  You can use this information to start gathering information on the trucks in advance.  If you are really lucky, they will even tell you what they set their reserve price at.

There are a growing number of repo trucks for sale at Houston government auctions, but it is up to you to find them.
