4×4 Pick Up – Which Are the Most Popular Trucks

If you are thinking about buying a 4×4 pick up then you might be wondering which the most popular trucks on the market are.  Looking at current trends in truck purchases is a very common way to decide what your best option could be.  The thing that makes 4×4 pick up trucks unique is that top sellers have all been dominating the market for some time.  Unlike cars, there seems to be very little variance at the top of the list.  Here is a quick look at which 4×4 trucks are the most popular in America.

At the top of the list is the Ford F150.  There are a number of different models to choose from including the regular cab, SVT Raptor, SuperCab, and SuperCrew.  The Ford F150 has been the top selling truck for nearly 3 decades and will often be the best-selling vehicle regardless of classification.  In 2010, Ford sold nearly 80,000 more F150’s than the Toyota Camry, which was number two on the best-sellers list.  The F150 has been a part of the Ford tradition for more than 60 years.  It was originally a no-frills type of truck, however it is now known not only for its rugged durability but also its smooth handling and improved features.

After the Ford F150 comes the Chevy Silverado 1500.  It is always towards the top of the 4×4 pick up most popular truck list.  There are several models to choose from including the: Crew Cab, Extended Cab, Regular Cab, and Hybrid.  If there is a truck that has been competing with Ford for the hearts of America, it is the Chevy Silverado.  It fell behind Ford for a few years and was criticized for having a bland, plastic interior, however this is no longer the case.  It has a much more luxurious finish while maintaining the flexibility, toughness, and durability that Chevy trucks are known for.

If there is a third 4×4 pick up on this list, it is the Toyota Tacoma.  While the Ford F150 and Chevy Silverado 1500 are the only trucks in the 2010 best sellers list, the Tacoma is never far behind.  With the Tacoma, you can choose between the Access Cab, Double cab, and Regular Cab.  The Tacoma offers a number of benefits including wide variety of styles, excellent quality, and solid reputation for being durable.  If there is anything that holds the Tacoma back, it is that it tends to be more expensive than the F150 or Silverado 1500.  Additionally, some consumer reviews report a less than smooth ride and poor seat comfort.

There you have it.  If you were wondering which are the most popular 4×4 pick up trucks, now you know.  The Ford F150 has been dominating the landscape for nearly 30 years, although the Chevy Silverado 1500 isn’t far behind.  While the Toyota Tacoma isn’t far behind, the few potential shortfalls and higher price tag will need to change in order to catch up in the near future.
